As an undergraduate, Nishani studied economics at Harvard University.  But her main interests were theater and the Internet.  After college, she went to Columbia Law School.  This decision was more by default than design: She was not talented enough to be a Broadway actress and "playing on the Internet" was not a career option. At Columbia, she enjoyed studying the law, and after graduating took her first job at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, a large corporate firm in New York City.  Since she was a lawyer, her friends, family and neighbors always asked for her advice when they were buying a house, having trouble at work, or deciding to open up a new business.  Nishani always told them that this was not the type of work she did as a corporate lawyer at a Big Firm.  But this did not stop them from asking, so Nishani would then do research on these issues and figure out a way to help them.

And that is how she discovered that she enjoyed helping her friends, family and neighbors with their real estate problems, their business problems and their work problems.  So she left the large corporate firm, and took a job at a small community firm in Elmhurst, Queens where she fine-tuned the knowledge she gained helping her friends, family and neighbors. And then she opened up her own practice to serve the friends, family and neighbors ... of the friends, family and neighbors who originally inspired (and spurred) her to form her own practice.
